SANTA FE (KRQE) – A state lawmaker wants to close what she calls a dangerous loophole that leaves children vulnerable to child predators.
Right now it’s a fourth degree felony for a person to send a sexually explicit picture of themself to a child under the age of 16. Representative Kelly Fajardo wants to change the law to prohibit the sending of any pornographic picture to a child.
Fajardo says these predators often use images of other people to avoid charges.
Her bill introduced for this legislative session would change that.
