Santa Fe, NM: State Representatives Alonzo Baldonado and Kelly Fajardo of Valencia County congratulated Los Lunas Mayor Charles Griego, the Los Lunas Village Council, and their economic development manager Ralph Mimms for their hard work in bringing Facebook to New Mexico. “Village officials worked tirelessly alongside the New Mexico Economic Development Department to bring the data center to New Mexico” said Baldonado. “We are grateful for their dedication to making this project a reality.”
Representative Fajardo added “The data center will provide an economic boost to the village and county over the next several years through direct and indirect employment. Congratulations to all those who made this possible and for their continued dedication to growing our economy.”
The Facebook Data Center is expected to bring hundreds of construction jobs and 50 permanent jobs to Valencia County. This project would not have been possible without passage of the 2013 Jobs Package which made a number of significant improvements to New Mexico’s tax and regulatory structure, most notably by making New Mexico’s corporate tax rate competitive with neighboring states. The Jobs package, along with a significant boost in the Local Economic Development Act Fund by the State Legislature in 2015, has given the state more of the tools necessary to bring companies like Facebook to New Mexico.
